SAS actively promotes learning through visits to its grassroots interventions, offering national and international students and professionals, valuable exposure to rural community development. Bachelor’s and Master’s students in Social Work visit SAS intervention villages as part of their academic curriculum, gaining practical insights and fulfilling their rural exposure requirements. By witnessing SAS’s impact firsthand, visitors observe effective strategies in areas like biogas cum toilet units, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and income-generating activities, creating a collaborative learning environment. These visits are designed to foster mutual growth; students learn from SAS’s sustainable models while SAS benefits from new ideas that can enhance and expand its community-based initiatives.
Training is a cornerstone of SAS’s work, aimed at strengthening leadership and capacity within SHGs and among SAS staff. Partnering with like-minded NGOs, SAS organizes regular sessions to develop leadership skills in SHG members and improve staff competencies. These trainings cover capacity building, SHG leadership, income generation activities, Jute and Cotton bag production, and the technical aspects of constructing biogas cum toilet units. By equipping participants with practical skills and leadership qualities, SAS fosters a sense of empowerment and responsibility. The goal is to build resilient communities with the capacity to sustain positive change, creating local champions who can inspire and drive development within their communities.
Research is also a key aspect for development, and renewed thinking. SAS is open to the researchers and Scholars to inspect the dynamics of SHG movements, assess the impacts of biogas and rural sanitation facilities, or examine watershed management’s benefits. SAS enhances its understanding of program impacts while contributing knowledge to the larger field of sustainable development. Research finding would lead to improved program strategies and inspire new initiatives that address rural challenges more effectively. Through this openness to research, SAS aims to strengthen its impact while providing academic institutions with valuable insights into community development.
