Federations of Self Help Groups

An SHG Federation is a collective of multiple Self Help Groups (SHGs) that unites to enhance the impact and sustainability of individual SHGs. It provides financial, technical, and managerial support, enabling SHGs to access larger funding, markets, and training opportunities. By pooling resources and advocating collectively, the federation empowers members, amplifies their voice in policy matters, and improves their capacity for economic growth, community development and assert their rights collectively.

SAS NGO Intervention:

  • Selected one SHG woman from each village to join the federation.
  • Raised awareness among SHG women about the benefits of federations.
  • Provided comprehensive training at village, taluka, and district levels.
  • Established the SHG Federation in 2014, covering Bailhongal, Belagavi, Khanapur, and Hukkeri talukas.

Present Status:

  • Women are actively lobbying for their rights and entitlements.
  • Villages have seen significant development through their efforts.
  • Women have successfully accessed various governmental schemes.

They now speak confidently and engage with local governance bodies.
