Shramik Abhivrudhi Sangh (SAS)
Shramik Abhivrudhi Sangh (SAS), popularly known as Jana Jagaran, is a social action wing of the Goa Jesuits. It is a non-profit organization serving for the larger section society since 1978. With an executive team of six Jesuits and a layperson, SAS works in Karnataka’s Belagavi District and Maharashtra’s Kolhapur District to uplift marginalized communities.
SAS is an experiment at the grass root for transforming unjust structures of society. It aims at building harmonious communities of diverse peoples, religions, languages and cultures with access to basic necessities of life in a clean and healthy environment.
Founded by Fr. Joseph Kurian Chenakala, Shramik Abhivrudhi Sangh (SAS) has spent over four decades empowering marginalized communities with its motto, “Empowering the Masses.” Now led by Fr. Santosh Vas SJ, SAS continues its initiatives in Karnataka and Maharashtra, driving sustainable development, social justice, and community upliftment with unwavering dedication and commitment to rural transformation.
